Ticketscout is a box office business that serves the Corner Hotel, Northcote Social Club and other Australian live music venues. They value their independence, and for a box office with both street frontage and an online presence, this means that control over their online systems is vitally important. Their existing system was no longer supporting their needs, so they come to us for a fresh and future-friendly take.
We built them a modern Rails 3 app, a complete system that provides both management tools for their box office staff and a complete set of pages for the public to browse gigs and purchase tickets. It runs on Heroku, so it easily copes with traffic spikes around gig launches and can scale to accomodate future growth. Besides its main PostgreSQL database, it uses Redis for fast and atomic operations around ticket reservations, ensuring customers always get what they ask for. It also features both an API and Webhooks support, which we’ve combined with a custom WordPress plugin to ensure that each specific venue can present up to date gig information on their own website and in their own way.
We’re confident that our app can handle anything that the Ticketscout business and the music loving public can throw at it. So while our team has stayed on to take care of it day-to-day, we still sleep soundly at night.
