It’s time for something new

After 14 years we’re hanging up our keyboards. Our team is joining the lovely people at Culture Amp, where we’ll be helping build a better world of work.

Icelab

Corley exhibition website and explorer tool launched

By Andy McCray10 Dec 2018

Icelab worked with the State Library of Queensland and ANU School of Art and Design to help design and build two online pieces for the Home: a suburban obsession exhibition.

Home explores the photography of Frank and Eunice Corley, an entrepreneurial couple who drove the streets of Queensland in their pink Cadillac from the 1960s to the 1970s, photographing suburban homes.

We designed and built an exhibition microsite which introduces users to the exhibition through a wealth of photo and video material.

Icelab also contributed to the Corley Collection Explorer, a new tool which allows visitors to explore, tag and append their own personal stories and images to the more than 60,000 photographs taken by Frank and Eunice Corley.

We were approached by Mitchell Whitelaw and Geoff Hinchcliffe from the Data Design Lab at the ANU School of Art and Design to construct an API for the collection. 17 different API endpoints provide ways to explore, tag, and contribute to the collection.

You can read more about the process of designing and constructing the microsite and API, or check out the Corley Collection Explorer now.

Home: a suburban obsession is at the State Library of Queensland until 14 July 2019.
