It’s time for something new

After 14 years we’re hanging up our keyboards. Our team is joining the lovely people at Culture Amp, where we’ll be helping build a better world of work.

Icelab

The Icemen Cometh

By Tim Riley20 Apr 2011

We’ve got some big news to share with you all. Icelab is growing. Today we’re pleased to introduce two people who have recently joined the team: Hugh Evans and Andy McCray.

Hugh Evans

Hugh Evans

Hugh is a versatile Ruby on Rails developer and designer who we’ve known for quite a while now. We worked with him back in 2008 to create Decaf Sucks over one caffeine-fuelled Rails Rumble weekend. He’s an active figure in the Australian Ruby community, and was the organiser of the seventh Australian RailsCamp here in Canberra last year. Hugh worked with Tim at the Australian Medical Council, where together they set about replacing an aging suite of internal tools with a modern, service-oriented Ruby on Rails-based web application architecture. Hugh has since continued work there both as a Lead Developer, and more recently, IT Manager, where he has finely honed his skills in customer liason and diplomacy. We’re excited to have him come back to the tools here at Icelab and greatly increase our capacity for full-scale application development.

Andy McCray

Andy McCray

Andy is a young go-getter who joined Icelab in January as a Designer. Andy has followed in Max’s footsteps, recently completing a Bachelor of Arts (New Media Arts) across the road from the lab at the Australian National University. Andy started designing for the web during his high school years, when he created Harry Potter Fan Zone, a site which he has developed and maintained to this day. As such, he already sports a long history of practical, hands-on experience with web design and development. This has made Andy immediately productive here at Icelab, and he’s been instrumental in helping us get projects out the door in a timely way.

We’re Ready, Let’s Talk

Icelab now sits at five people, with two designers, two developers, and our creative-director-cum-project-wrangler-and-algorithmic-artist-in-residence Michael. We’re better prepared than ever to take on your next project. Design work or complete-stack web or mobile application development, we’re ready to go. If you have a project you think we can help you with, come and speak to us. We’re more than happy to have a chat about how we can work together.
