In addition to a custom, full-featured CMS for delivering rich editorial content, the site harvests and indexes participating online cultural collections, presenting a unified search interface across materials held by libraries, archives, museums, universities, and communities around Australia.

Powered by Elasticsearch and a custom-built Ruby web crawler, the search platform allows researchers, students and other site visitors to search the full text of a growing set of more than 40,000 records. Advanced search options offer filtering by prime minister, record type, date, source and organisation.
